
Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne was bright with spring this (day after) equinox: the swallows are darting about again, finding apartments and mud hammocks; peepers are peepin’ and leapin’ at the water’s edge; and there are new buds and lovely creepies crawlin’ all about.

This (Concho?) water snake had already been harassed by the looks of its dropped tail. Still she did a fine job of retracting for a strike even if she wasn’t sure she wanted to take that next step in the dance.
